India will continue to drift away from Russia for its defence equipment purchases. India will shift its military imports towards Western suppliers, and India's reliance on American weapons, in particular, will increase. Russia's weakness in advanced technology, amplified now by Western sanctions, will accelerate this drift.

This drift of Indian defense procurement will eventually alter India's foreign policy too, to the detriment of India's sovereignty, and to the economic and geostrategic benefit of the US and European nations. Global geopolitics will experience significant changes as a result.
