Not many years from now, either shredding will become the standard way of deleting data, or storage devices will be such that deleted data cannot be recovered. Later generations will feel surprised listening to past tales of deleted data being "recovered" from hard disks.

Good ideas eventually come back

A good idea that's executed improperly or executed at the wrong time won't die. It'll eventually come back at the right time and in the right form by someone. For it's fundamentally a good idea. Examples include the Newton MessagePad and the Sony Glasstron.

Kidneys (or a derivative thereof) will be manufactured and used on a large scale in order to carry out filtration of water and/or other fluids. Such human-based kidneys will need relatively little energy and other inputs, while cleaning large volumes of fluids.
